FAQ's

What can I expect to receive from a photo session with Jenna Nuss Photography?

The sessions are designed to fit in several posed and candid styles to fit your family's needs. A full custom-session typically takes place at one location where we will shoot in 1-2 different settings. My goal is to make you and your family feel as comfortable as possible and to have some fun! In addition to your 30-45 minute photo session, you will also receive:

  • Your own private photo gallery with the high resolution edited digital images from your photo session available for immediate download.

  • Print release available upon request (most places do not require one to print anymore)

  • Facebook "sneak peek" on my photography facebook page

  • Photos sent to you within one to two weeks of session date (typically only one week turnaround time)

Can I get studio pictures?

I am a natural light photographer, so studio pictures are not my style. There are some indoor locations I will shoot at and I am always happy to shoot pictures in your home (**see bottom of page for restrictions on travel).

What is a "lifestyle" photo session?

A lifestyle photo session is one which takes place in your home. Very little of the photos include everyone posed, smiling and looking at the camera. I try to capture genuine emotion between family members. A mother and daughter making cookies, the snuggling of a new baby, and siblings jumping on a bed are all examples of lifestyle photography.

A lifestyle newborn session usually includes photos taken in the parents' bedroom, the baby's nursery, the living room, and a select few other areas of the house. Natural light is an important element in lifestyle photos, so I will ask that you open all curtains and raise all blinds in each room we shoot photos in. Lifestyle sessions always occur in the morning time when natural light is optimal. (**See bottom of page for restrictions on travel for lifestyle photos in your home).

When do I pay for my photo session and images?

A non-refundable deposit fee of $25 is due upon booking to reserve your session date and time. The remaining payment in full is required at the photo session. About 2-7 days prior to your session, I will email out an invoice to the email address you provided upon booking. The session fee must be paid in full before any photos are released to you.

What time of day will my session occur?

You may have heard of photographers refer to the "golden hour". This is the 1-1.5 hours before the sun sets and it is referred to as the "golden hour" because of the soft, beautiful golden sunlight. This is the optimal time for MOST photo sessions to take place. I do not shoot midday sessions due to the harsh sunlight and shadows created by the lighting at that time of day. No one wants squinty eyes in their photos :).

I have a select few locations in which morning time is best, so if you require a morning appointment, we will choose from one of those locations for your session.

Do you travel for photo sessions?

Currently I am only doing photoshoots in the Johnson County and Downtown KC area.

What if the weather doesn't cooperate?

We will reschedule the photoshoot if there is rain, snow/ice, extremely cold temperatures (under 35 degrees Fahrenheit), or excessive wind. If for some other reason you need to reschedule, there is no extra charge for that as well. Your deposit fee will transfer to your new session date. Please give a minimum of 24 hour notice if you need to reschedule. The only instance I will refund your deposit fee is if I have to cancel a photo session for my own personal reasons.

Do I get to pick the photos I receive?

Part of hiring me as your professional photographer is trusting that I choose and edit the best photos from the ones I take at your session. Additional photos are NOT available for purchase unless specified for certain mini sessions. Under no circumstance will RAW or unedited photos be given to any client.
